SRV Sketch2

 ORIGINAL SRV PAINTING

Here is the pencil sketch for the 28″ x 40″  (71.12 cm x 101.6 cm) one-of-a-kind Stevie Ray Vaughan oil painting on canvas.

This original painting of Stevie Ray Vaughan was created while it was being bid on during a 10 day eBay listing.

I typically only market the prints made from my paintings, but on this one, no prints were made and the original was sold to a collector in Wisconsin who was at Stevie’s last show!!

SRV1

Here’s the first photo of a section I started. I continued to post photos of the painting’s progression each day.

SRV2

This is feeling good & coming together nicely on its first day.

SRV3

Nothing like a little inspiration from feedback from the fans to move this forward!

SRV4

Stevie’s tunes in the middle of the night continue to inspire!

Early morning painting in the Garden Studio. Man…I miss Stevie!!

You can hear him in the silence!!!!

So close to finished!!

I’ve decided to name this “Stevie – Above & Beyond”

Alpine sign

A serene August morn…

Stevie Roadside

The painting made a road trip to East Troy, WI. This is just outside of the Alpine Valley Music Venue where Stevie played his last show.

The fog arrives…

SRV Alpine RIP sml

Note on this final Alpine Valley photo shown…

With the painting now completed, I made a road trip to document this painting at the location of Stevie’s last concert in Alpine Valley, East Troy, WI, USA.

As I set up the camera in front of the ski hill where the accident occured, a thick fog rolled in.

In the early morning quiet of the valley, it was as though Stevie had joined me to give his approval.

A glossy inkjet print of this image was now added to the auction of the painting.

I’m thinking at this point that the painting title will be either:
    “Stevie – we miss you”
    or
    “Stevie – Above…& Beyond”

    Let me know your reaction.

With a few days left for bidding, we’re savoring the painting on our own wall. The sale will be bitter/sweet as we’ll be sad to see him leave.

All I can say is WOW. So Awesome. I was living in Dallas and had just seen him at the Blues fest and then it happened. I say him many times and he was great. He was always in his best when he was in Austin, too. Thanks for honoring him in such a way….

      Thanks Jake,
The original went to one of my collectors who knew what a steal it was. He purchased it for $3,200, and he knows what it will be worth in the future.
